TARGET SPECIES: Blue Marlin (105” minimum), White Marlin, Sailfish & Spearfish (release only). A 20 lb. minimum applies for all meat fish (tuna, wahoo, dolphin).
In this division, a Blue Marlin can be harvest or released to receive points. A released fish will score 500 points. In order to harvest a Blue Marlin for points, it must meet a minimum length of 105”, from the tip of the lower jaw to the fork of the tail. You will receive bonus points of 1000 points + 1 point per pound (i.e. a 105” Blue Marlin, weighing 550lbs would earn 1550 points). Blue Marlin weighed in less than 105” only receives 1 point per lbs. (i.e. a 104” Blue Marlin weighing 350lbs would only earn 350 points). There are no bonus points for fish less than 105”. You lose points for weighing fish less than 105” in most cases (release points would been worth more). These rules encourage the release of all fish under 105″. Any Blue Marlin taken must meet the minimum length of 103” to earn points for this tournament. Smaller fish will be disqualified. The 1000 bonus points will apply only to the Blue Marlin Division (they will not be counted twice if the boat is entered into the Billfish Release Division).
