This blue marlin swam roughly 580 miles (straight line distance) in just 19 days! Tagged just south of Louisiana aboard the “Michi” on August 9, 2015 this fish headed south, averaging more than 30 miles a day. The fish was caught by Craig Jones with Capt. Al Roper and estimated at 200 lbs. when they tagged and released it. The marlin was later recaptured a few miles off of Havana, Cuba by Capt. Adil Prieto and Maykel Alvarez aboard the “Triton” and estimated to weigh roughly the same weight as when it was tagged. Thanks for reporting and congrats on the great recapture.
